John Crewe · Vehicle Pipeline Director, Foundry 42Officially, they're a great place to store spare items. So every ship needs storage. If you're going on a long trip, your items are going to be wearing out, so you might want to have spare items: coolers, your power plants. You've got sub-items, fuses, whatever. These things are all going to slowly decay over time, and you don't want them to take up your cargo space. You don't want to fill your cargo space with all the stuff you need to get there. So lots of ships actually have these extra areas. The Hammerhead and the Idris is a good one. We have these in the big circular corridors. You see in the Aegis ships, they've got these doors that go like that. They go into essentially store cupboards, where it's just racks of storage space for storing stuff. It's technically a cargo grid, but it's not a cargo grid for storing cargo on. If you went to buy cargo, it wouldn't go in there. It's for you to put these spares in. The difference on the Star Runner is they are more shielded than, say, on a Hammerhead, where they're just a closet to put stuff in. So that's why they're there.
