On the last episode, you mentioned the Austin office team was going to watch Star Trek Into Darkness. Did you guys enjoy it? Did you get any new ideas and inspiration from it?asked by Furious
TL;DRThe Austin team enjoyed the film, praising its nods to the original series and its direction, and valued the outing as team building; no specific ideas or inspiration for the game are mentioned.
Yeah, we did enjoy it. Team building moments like that where you get to go with all the guys and girls that work on Star Citizen help keep us as a family, since we put in long hours to make this game as good as it can be. We liked it a lot. Even though it wasn't a truly original story, it had a lot of nods. If you're a Trekkie, it had a lot of nods to the original, like, spoiler alert coming up, Chekov, go put on a red shirt, things like that. Or they had Tribbles in there. Or they juxtaposed Captain Kirk versus Spock as in who was fighting the bad guy. Usually it's Kirk with his shirt off fighting. This time it was Spock with his shirt on. We don't want to have to black box Spock, right? And also, I don't want to give too much away, but it was really, really well done. J.J. Abrams is a really, really talented director, and we enjoyed it immensely, and thank you very much for asking.
