There have been a lot of comments in the last 15 hours [from people who] maybe didn't understand why we chose CryEngine, [and are] starting to see that, even with all the work we've had to do improving and adding features, it was a very nimble starting point for us.

TL;DRNathan says CryEngine's rendering has always been among the best and will improve, citing the new automatic lens flares and saying the project is gelling visually, though he admits bias.

Yeah, the rendering side of things has always been pretty good. It's always been up there, as far as I'm concerned probably the best. But I would say that; I'm a little bit biased. And it's only going to get better. The lighting, the new flares stuff is just such a pleasure to use. There was so much manual effort that went into setting up lens flares on lights. And again, I wouldn't use them in the J.J. Abrams style; I would try and use them to mimic atmosphere around that light fitting. I don't have to do that anymore. It's all dealt with automatically, and it looks consistent. So when you look at the Idris, like standard, or you look at a Starfarer or a Retaliator, now we're starting to get under the skin of the rendering a little bit more. The whole project is starting to gel together a lot more visually. That's my personal opinion, but I hope other people will see that when all that goes into the build.
