Why does Stanton have such a small historical time frame? 30 years or so to build a city planet like ArcCorp, and destroy an environment for another, Hurston?
TL;DRThe team says the short timeline is odd but justifiable, since ArcCorp aggressively built mostly factories needing few people, and corporate-owned planets face no environmental regulations.
Yeah, they're fast builders. Aggressive development. What can you say?
I'm trying to think of when. Actually, we got into the nitty-gritty of when the system was discovered. Yeah, it's definitely a weirdness factor, how quickly they've done it. The one thing we've kind of been saying, justifying it, at least to myself as I cry myself to sleep at night, is that a lot of it's factory and production facilities, so it can be very expansive but not require a lot of people. Presumably at this point, because we're settling a lot of worlds, hopefully they've upped their game as far as building, dropping outposts down and dropping factories down. Yeah, the timeline's a little funky, but...
Yeah, the expansion of it was a very hard, aggressive push by ArcCorp to cover it, to build out and build these things. We've talked with Art about the development of this world and how we're going to see it. And as you've seen with the other moons, it's really awesome how much things keep improving and changing. So I'm looking forward to the release of the rest of the system and to seeing how it grows.
And also, to be fair, Hurston hasn't completely destroyed their environment; they've really screwed it up.
And another point to add is that these planets are owned by the corporations themselves, not technically the UEE, so there are no environmental regulations where you need to make sure there's planning and you have a few years; you can just go and do whatever you want, because that's their property. If you want to lean into that, we can lean into that.
It kind of fits with ArcCorp's personality that they're super aggressive about getting people to move in there and set up their production facilities and their corporate headquarters and all this stuff. So they're really actively going out to try and get more people so they can make more money.
