How did ArcCorp manage to build and populate an entire megacity like Stanton III in less than 85 years?
TL;DRThey concede the timeline was already lengthened and explain it with hand-waving about flat factory and warehouse areas, and say future planet tech may stop the city covering the whole planet.
I mean, that seems perfectly rational to me.
One of the things that's coming up with one of the future planet techs is, hopefully, it's still in discussion, that the city texture isn't going to cover the entirety of the planet. There are going to be areas that don't have the megacity. It's mostly covered, but it's not going to be as uniform as it is right now.
And we also shifted the date, right? Did we publish that?
Yeah, that's the 85 years.
It used to be much shorter.
Yeah, it used to be much shorter. And this person is still giving you crap about the 85 now.
No, no, that's fair. Again, a thing that we were trying to say, as part of the hand-wavium of it, was the idea that a lot of the planet is large swaths of mostly flat factory stuff or warehouses and stuff that's relatively easy to throw up. And also, our hand-wavium was that they drew a lot of inspiration from some of the Xi'an production worlds that are also that very single-focus type of world allocation. So hopefully they would have magic space brushes that could just spray down urban sprawl. But we haven't really gotten into that. But that was fun.
And there's been discussion about the oceans on ArcCorp.
That's what Will was saying. Yeah, hopefully we can get to a point where we can start to blend. I can't remember if that was the issue.
Yeah, it's the biome blending there.
Yeah, that was the problem.
Because ArcCorp is built differently than every other planet.
Yeah, so it's easier right now to just slap a city over everything.
Yeah, every time the planet team releases a new round, I'm just blown away again. I keep thinking, wow, how can it get better than this? And then they show me. So the new stuff going in in 3.9 is stunning.
