Recently there was some press about Turbulent, or some part of Turbulent, becoming Cloud Imperium Games Montreal. How's that going?
TL;DRIt's going very well: the game teams were renamed Cloud Imperium Games Montreal to clarify messaging and hiring, and integration and collaboration with the other studios are described as positive.
Very good, actually. We're coming up on the two-year anniversary of the merger of Turbulent and CIG. It's going really well, I think, overall. So we did want to do some adjustments, though, because the Turbulent teams, even though they're fully working on Star Citizen, were still under the Turbulent name, which caused us a bunch of grief, to be honest, in having to explain, like when we're hiring people and bringing them into the team, it's like, so what is there? Oh, it's Star Citizen, but it's Turbulent. But really, we're the same. That doesn't help. So we all wanted to make sure that this was one good unified message. And so for the game teams over there, basically, we kind of split the two businesses, because Turbulent still exists as a web company. And the web teams are fully inside CIG now. And so changing the name of the studio to Cloud Imperium Games Montreal made sense, to be able to leverage the outstanding talent in the city and build stable teams over there. And the team has grown quite a bit. And so this was really about clarifying stuff like this. And I think it's going well. The integration has been fantastic so far. The way the teams operate across the board at CIG is improving. I think that even though there's transatlantic time zones, you can see a lot of the fruit of the collaborations between the teams show up right in the stuff that we've produced this year. The teams travel back and forth. The key leads are exchanging. And there's a really good gel between this. And so it's been, to be honest, really positive so far.
