With a hangar demo coming out later this month, how exactly will you be distributing it? Will it just be downloaded straight from the site, or are you going to use a downloader like Blizzard does for their games?asked by T-Bone Man
TL;DRThe hangar will be delivered through a small patcher downloaded from the site, which then downloads the full client and keeps patching it, with later modules like dogfighting added the same way.
So we have a whole sort of content delivery patching system. So it's very similar to all the sort of big online games you have seen or played or used. So you'll download the patcher from our site. I think it's about 20 megabytes. And then that patcher will live on your machine and download the full client and then also continually update and patch. So when we do bug fixes or when we do new revisions of the hangar or future stuff like the dogfighting module, it will be downloading that new data. So actually the idea is the very first code delivery of Star Citizen is actually happening with the hangar module. And then over the next couple of years, it's going to just keep growing and adding all the features. So when we move from the hangar to the dogfighting, then the dogfighting gets added to the hangar, and then the planetside gets added to all that. And eventually you'll get to Squadron 42 and the full game.
