The Railen cargo pod system: valid, or needs rethinking?

TL;DRThe Railen pods are valid visually but need tweaking: they'll use standard SCU containers with capacity going up, a number to be given later, and some concept work to keep them practical.

I think it's, can I say both? I think visually it's valid. We really like where it is visually, and we have been doing a little bit of investigation on this fairly recently, trying to work out what we want to do with it. I think what that has led to is the cargo value is probably going to change a little bit. And I think we need to do a little bit of concept work to get the visuals to a point where it still looks cool, but it's practical and it makes the ship good to use, because the last thing I really want to do is push us too far down a particular route with the visuals that just means that it's an absolute pain to play with. So I think we need to find that compromise, like we keep mentioning, but they are valid because I like what they look like, but they need a little bit of tweaking to make work.

They are going to use the existing SCU cargo system that we have in the game, so they're not going to have some giant cargo-shaped cargo. It's going to use the same SCU ones. It's going to take 32 SCU containers, but we have some ideas on how we're going to wrap that up in the Gatac style language, and then the cargo capacity is going to go way up. I'm not going to give a number here. We'll give a number later on.
