At some point in the future, will we be able to open cargo containers and adjust or remove the contents?
TL;DRYes, opening cargo containers is part of the design, with each box holding a set of item slots, but only for loot and equipment, not commodities, and technical considerations remain.
Yes. It's part of the design.
Yeah, it's the same footprint. It's an SCU space with a lid, and inside it'll have a hundred-unit space.
There's definitely some serious technical considerations for something like that, but we'll figure it out.
It's got all the item ports in there, and like a rifle takes three item ports.
Yeah, but imagine you have a ship that has thousands of these things.
But to be clear, these won't be commodities. You won't be able to open up your box of chlorine and then just, like, I'll just take one chlorine out. They will be inventory items, bits of loot, other equipment, things like that, because the unit system is what we're also using for the personal inventory. When we talk about how much stuff you can hold in your pockets, in terms of units, all guns, like you said, rifles might be three units, pistols might be one unit, a grenade might be one unit. Knowing the unit size of items that you find around, you can put them in your boxes, and then they will take up the same footprint as every other one SCU item in the grid.
