Why was Alpha UEC and gear wiped in the PTU for build 2.4?asked by Heis

That's precisely the point of Alpha UEC. We're going to have plenty of times where it gets wiped. Especially with the PTU stuff, they're going to want to reset quite often.

The reason we've created Alpha UEC is so we can not touch your regular earned UEC, and so they can wipe it, grant it, increase it, deflate it at will as we're testing different things.

Yeah, I guarantee we'll have points in the future where you log in and you have a kajillion UEC for no reason, and then there'll be other days where you don't have any, and it's all part of the process.

Alpha UEC, don't get attached.
