When may we get an official list of the remaining stretch goals, along with the parts of the game to be released revealed?asked by Might Life

Rob IrvingLead Designer

So the plan is every time we reach a new million mark, we make sure we reveal the next two.

Right. So when you get to whatever 15 million will be next, we would maybe reveal the 17 million one, right? So that's how we're doing this. And so you're just going to have to wait. Patience. Or they don't. They can get to the million quicker and then just put it right up there, right?

Will there be more Origin ships offered before November 26th?asked by Bradford Gray

Well, if we're talking about the M50. M50's an Origin ship. Yep, that'll be, we're working on that now, I believe. Yeah, we are. It's a very spiffy little ship. It's pretty cool. So, yes. Other Origin ships? Probably not anytime soon. Probably not before November 26th, but there will be others. Someday. I mean, they're a manufacturer, they're working hard.

When landing at the various planetary locations throughout the Star Citizen universe, will each location have variable weather, or will it rain perpetually in Star Citizen's equivalent of New Detroit?asked by AwesomeAD

Of course we're going to have weather. You've seen Pete Mackey, the weather wizard. It's about time. I think Pete's about healed up. He may need to make a weather appearance coming up here.

Are there any plans for interaction between Squadron 42 and the persistent universe of Star Citizen? I'm thinking something along the lines of a credit bonus for successfully completing your tour of duty.asked by Z Mustang

Don't suck.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

Yeah, there will definitely be some kind of monetary reward if you survive. And there's also, you'll carry over some of your reputation if you earn that during the game. And then you may have the option to continue service with the military in like a call-up fashion. They call you up.

You're in the reserves, right? There's some campaigns that pop up here and there and they need reserves. We may call all hands on deck and see if you choose in the universe whether you want to go. It'd just be kind of like a mission pack, right? And you might get medals and stuff that you can see in your hangar. That's right, bling. Everybody needs bling, baby.

During the 24-hour livestream, it was revealed that there will be three separate tiers for the hangar module when it's released in August, and that players will receive their hangar tier based on their pledge level. Can you tell us if the pledge level is based on pledge package or total dollars spent, and what pledge level or dollar amount determines which hangar a player receives?asked by Heartsblade

Well, it's a little complicated.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

There's a lot of code involved. But basically, think of it in terms of the bigger your ship, the nicer your hangar.

Right, so there's not really a monetary level that decides that. It's really, in fiction, number of ships, size of ship kind of deal. I mean, if you have 500 Auroras, you're not going to be in a little cheap hangar. Anyway, so the hangar is determined by the ships that you have.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

Yes.

Will there be limitations on the NPC crew drop-in mechanic? As Chris described it, you can drop in at a whim. It sounds like players would exploit this mechanic for advantages in the game. What are your thoughts on how to prevent this type of behavior in Star Citizen?asked by Sibilic Mixoplex Reductant

TL;DRThe speaker suspects the question means player characters rather than NPCs, and says drop-in crew is meant for friends to socialize and will not give players some crazy advantage.

Well, I think he meant PC, not NPC, because you don't drop in NPCs. You're not going to all of a sudden be somewhere and go, and maybe that's a misunderstanding on the question, maybe he really does mean NPCs, and think that you'll be attacked and go, 'NPC alert, NPC alert,' and drop them all in. Push the easy button. The point is, it's meant to allow your friends to socialize and be part of the experience with you. And we're not going to give you some kind of crazy advantage for doing that. It's like you hop in to help them out, then you go back to where you were. So you're not going to be able to jump in, you're halfway across the galaxy and then jump in and all of a sudden you're on that side of the galaxy, and then you whistle and your ship appears next door and you hop in. No!

Will there be friendly fire? Can you shoot your friends down? Because then I don't have to look at what I'm firing on.asked by Med Divine

Well, gee, isn't it a good idea to look when you're firing anyway? I think that's important. So will there be friendly fire? Yeah. So you can actually shoot your friend down on accident or do damage. So pay attention.

Will it be possible to have our pilots' call signs visible on the hull of our ships, much in the same way that modern fighter pilots have theirs just under the cockpit of their planes?asked by Jaden Cottrell

Rob IrvingLead Designer

We'd love to do that. I mean, ship names, pilot names, it would be neat. We'll have to check out the impact of it and see how possible it is.

Yeah, because we're pushing a lot of polygons, textures and stuff across there. And it could be a situation where, and we don't know, we'll have to do this and test everything, where you get to see it or maybe just your group of friends sees it. Doing it for yourself might be the answer. So we'll see. We'll test that out. And the beauty is they're going to get a chance to test it with us. So during the Dogfighting Module, we'll play around with all that kind of stuff.

Will we be able to interact with interstellar bodies, for example flying too close to a star's corona or fighting in the upper atmosphere of a planet, or will there be some kind of automated warning that we're getting too close, followed by a forced autopilot away?asked by Ephraim Tenhauser

TL;DRFlying into stars or planet atmospheres is very unlikely and not at launch because it is too expensive, so players will probably be kept at a safe distance and must request landing.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

Gosh, that would be neat, but it's very unlikely we're going to be able to do anything of that nature. It's just too expensive. I think that mostly we're just going to keep you at a safe distance.

Right, too expensive. Explain what that means.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

It's a lot of processing. I mean, making a planet look good up close is a lot of work. Huge amount of textures and things of that nature.

It's not saying they won't happen day one. I know we have talked about atmosphere stuff later, but...

Rob IrvingLead Designer

Well, we are saying it won't happen day one.

So how are we going to handle that?

Rob IrvingLead Designer

We'll probably keep them away from a certain distance. There will just probably be a bounding zone around it where it warns you of a planetary collision. You have to request landing to get down.

Exactly. It's probably handled a lot like Freelancer handled it. Look to the past to see how Chris Roberts did things. Give you clues.

Will it be possible to access and fly any ship we have in our hangar from any planet's starport hangar, or must we return to the last place the ship was docked in order to fly it away?asked by Malkara

Rob IrvingLead Designer

Your ship is where you left it, so if you need to get back to it, you have to find your way back. There will be taxis and stuff. You can get back to your hangar if you're in the wrong place. Space taxis.

Yeah, space taxis. You don't expect things to show up and be there. It's a real living, breathing world we're trying to create here, or universe. You could have a couple of hangars dotted across the galaxy.

Rob IrvingLead Designer

And ships in every one.

I mean, our good friend Simon's probably going to have ships in every system. And Lance too, for that matter.

We've got a big release coming up in the next month or so, the Hangar release, and that's going to significantly change a lot of what you're doing around here [How so]?

Justin BinfordSenior QA Manager

Oh yeah, definitely. I'll be focusing on testing mostly. We're developing a working relationship with a very professional QA operation, and it's going to be really lucky for us to leverage their resources for our compatibility testing so we can identify any hardware conflicts and also nail down exactly what our minimum specifications will be.

Right, and we're going to be using some of the fans out there to help us test in some regards too, like we did with the website. Because without them, there's not us.

Justin BinfordSenior QA Manager

Yeah, the community has been incredibly helpful with that.

And so you'll be the one probably liaising with all of them too.

Justin BinfordSenior QA Manager

Yeah, I'll be the point of contact for all that and trying to organize it.
