[What is the status of] AI blades?
Jared Huckaby · Host, Community

It's not really for this team to discuss. But yes, still wanted, still intended. You might have seen some struggle with the MDC recently. What is a PDT but an AI blade-controlled turret? You're seeing, live and in real time, some of the limitations of the current implementation. It's still intended. It's still the thing. It's ships like the Clipper, the generalist. It is our intention never to leave solo players behind. Yes, it is a massively multiplayer online universe. Yes, you'll always be able to do more with friends and colleagues and allies. But there should be a place for people who don't want to do any of that. We're very passionate about that. That is still at the core of our intention for this game, and things like AI blades, things like the NPC crews we used to talk a lot about, all of that stuff was designed for that. All things in their time.

Mark Gibson · Lead Vehicle Content Designer

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people on Spectrum and Reddit talking about, oh well, they've got the flight blades and the AI blades, surely it's easy to just get the rest of it in. But the way we've had to implement them just isn't how blades are going to have to work. We've had to use our current systems in interesting ways to get them to function the way they are. And it's just not how blades are going to be.
