As they are the only alien race fully absorbed into the UEE, can you tell us more about the Tevarin? How many of them are there? Are they all living on the fringes of society, or have some transitioned more successfully than others into UEE society?
TL;DRThey can't give Tevarin numbers beyond saying there are few, and describe them as split between embracing UEE society and reclaiming their heritage, a deliberate point of flux for when they appear in-game.
Yeah, I mean, as far as actual numbers, I'm not entirely sure we could necessarily say how many. There's not a whole bunch of them; they're not rivaling humans as far as their population. But they've been going through an interesting thing, because initially they were part of UEE society but were on a self-imposed exile from it. They kind of weren't happy about it, so they didn't care about anything, they were just living their lives and ignoring everybody. With the Tevarin Senator storyline that we ran a few years ago...
Suj Kosi?
Kosi, yeah. There's an element of them that want to embrace the UEE and are like, hey, we're part of this civilization, let's act like it and let's contribute and stuff like that. And so you get some who follow that belief, some that don't. And then also with the Kosi story, we were getting into a small group of them who are trying to kind of... Yeah, we're trying to set it up as an interesting point of flux for when we do get to introduce them into the game.
That there'll be interesting paths for them to take. It's not quite a clear path right now. It's like, do they fully acknowledge that we're part of the UEE now and we want our equal rights and we want to take hold and we're respectable citizens? As part of that, do they want to reclaim their lost heritage? Does reclaiming their lost heritage mean separating out from the UEE and living in Branaugh? And then there's still the people who have this kind of more lone warrior thing, and the Tevarin have a little bit of a bad rep from working as mercs or criminals. And all this stuff feeds in together to make a very complicated, interesting...
Yeah, I mean, the hope is that, because we've been asked on the forums about whether there are Tevarin in the military and stuff like that, and Suj Kosi was a Navy pilot, I believe. The hope is that when you meet them, there's a story behind them, like how they're behaving and how their personality is; there's inherently something fun and interesting about them. For me, actually, they're one of my favorites, although the Banu are rapidly sneaking up on them. They're very fun.
