Are there any plans for the SCM and NAV mode transition times to differ between ships, for example through engineering optimization, ship role, or even component archetype or tuning? Will it be the same for every ship or different?
TL;DRMode swap times differ between ships, set by a per-ship value and the quantum drive; interceptors spool faster and larger ships generally take longer.
No, they're definitely different. So the swap time is defined by two things. One is a value which we currently set per ship. The other one is defined by the quantum drive that you're using, because when you go into NAV mode, the quantum drive spools up and this is the thing that unlocks the high speeds. Specifically, I don't want to talk about engineering gameplay because another team is handling that, but it is a value that can potentially be changed by tweaking your quantum drive. As I said, I don't want to talk specifically about this because this is not my area. But in the initial master modes release for 3.23, the ships will have different values in terms of spool times. Specifically between fighters or interceptors. Interceptors, for example, they spool just faster because we want them to be fast and to actually work as interceptors when they need to. So, yeah, there will definitely be different times. And specifically, the larger the ship, usually the longer the time becomes to spool, to swap the modes.
