Ships like the Buccaneer and the 325a are "interdictors", but don't have EMP, distortion weapons, or any speed advantages over light fighters. What attributes separate an interdictor from a light fighter or any other role?

John CreweVehicle Pipeline Director / Vehicle Technical Design

I think name-wise, interdictors is probably the wrong name for those. They perhaps would go back to, I think we used to call them interceptors. So we'd probably look at changing that just as a phrasing, because, yeah, interdictors should really have the loadout changes that were suggested there. But in lore, they're always supposed to be better in a straight line, so like a real-world interceptor. They're designed to get from point A to point B fast, do some damage whilst everything else turns up.

They would also, in terms of balancing gameplay above SCM speeds, have an advantage. So they're able to be more effective at higher speeds. Even though they might not have that different of a speed cap, they're just better at higher speeds.
