[What's the status of] the holographic subscriber helmet with the skull that was shown back in 2019?
TL;DRThey still want the holographic skull helmet, but it needs a new graphics shader and the graphics team is prioritizing work that affects all of the game, so it remains on the list.
For the last half of 2019 and for all of 2020, one of my moonlight side jobs was running the subscriber program. And that was one of the things that Jeremiah and I pushed for to get into the program. We absolutely still want it. It's just that it requires a new graphics shader, because the hologram tech that we have right now works great for ships. You saw it at IAE. It looks great for that stuff. The visceral experience we want in the helmets, it wasn't quite there, so we need some additional work from the graphics team. And unfortunately, if you read our monthly reports, you know the graphics team has their work cut out for them. They have all kinds of stuff they're working on, the new Gen12 renderer and stuff like that. And it's more important that they prioritize stuff that can affect all of Star Citizen than just the stuff for the subscriber program. So as much as we want it, we want it bad, it's just there are other things that need to happen first. So it's still on the list.
It's still on the list. A big shout out to the graphics guys, because recently they gave us a ton of stuff that is coming for characters that makes all characters look better. So in the grand scheme of things, would we love our hologram shader? Yes, of course. But when we get some of these updates that are coming for characters, all of them got better. We had some stuff that was just kind of bugs, other things that we've been asking for for a long time. We got a lot of stuff from them over the last month or so that we're very excited about for characters, because these aren't things that just make this character or that character look good. All of the characters are going to look better because of the stuff that we've got.
