Mining is currently quite tedious due to only wanting to search for high-quality materials.
TL;DRThe team says it monitors drop rates and will adjust the balance each patch cycle so found materials feel meaningful, and doesn't call mining tedious, though acknowledging it won't suit everyone.
I think the other part of the answer to that is, the question is like, "All I'm finding is boring stuff. Where's the excitement?" We will balance that over time. If we're not supplying enough for the players to feel satisfaction in that process, if we're not supplying enough to have a good crafting environment, we will adjust the balance to what we think gets to a good place, both for the economy and to make sure that all the other game systems come together for a fun environment.
For that, we are even monitoring all the rates that we see drop. So we are adjusting. So every patch cycle, the numbers might change a bit, so that we get into a range where the material that the players will find is actually meaningful and has a purpose for them. I wouldn't call mining tedious.
It depends. Not every game loop is going to be for every person. For some people it will be tedious.
But it should also be exciting for the people that enjoy it.
