Is there a common language that's spoken by all species? Specifically, how would they manage intergalactic trade without it? The Banu, the Xi'an, the humans. Is there a service dialect for everybody that's been developed over the next 900 years?
TL;DRNo common language for all species has been established in lore; Cherie Heiberg personally thinks it would be Banu-influenced, while gameplay will likely lean on UEE Standard.
That's something that I'm not sure about. That would be a question to ask Dave. We haven't really discussed having a common standard language for everybody to speak. If you ask me, this is just my opinion. This isn't something that we've established in lore as canonical fact. But for me, I think it would make sense for it to have a lot of Banu influence, since the Banu are the species that have contact with literally everyone, and have since, well, they can't remember, because they don't really care about keeping historical records. So I think it would make sense for everybody to have at least some meeting ground speaking Banu to each other. But again, that's just what I think right now off the top of my head, which I think would be good. As far as gameplay purposes are concerned, it's very likely that we'll just lean towards UEE Standard, just for the sake of fun, so that everybody can participate in trading and everybody can communicate with every other alien species. But in my heart of hearts, it's Banu.
I like the Banu so much because I hate writing anything down. But you're all about writing everything down. How do the Banu not just drive you crazy?
They don't really care about historical records, but they like to have a chill time. So I like them.
Yeah, I am not aware of any UEE Esperanto at this point. So that's my only comment on this topic.
