Can clouds have mass, as in an exploded tank full of gooey stuff in a cloud shape that can clog up your ship's intakes or something? Can clouds become obstructions?

TL;DRIn the new flight model for Squadron they've been told gas clouds give drag, lift and buffeting tied to atmosphere data, with visual and physical density separate, so a cloud could theoretically be thick enough to chew you up.

Oh, yeah. So that's not come online yet, has it? Flight Model 2. IFCS 2.

Jared HuckabyHost, Community

We're not calling it IFCS 2. We put too many 2.0s out there. We'll just call it the new flight model for now.

Yeah, so we've had some discussions in terms of doing the gas cloud in Squadron. Do we get drag when you fly? If you fly too close to a wall, does it start to drag? And we've actually been told that you get drag, you get lift, all of the atmospheric flight stuff effectively. And that's tied in with data that says there's atmosphere. So I think there's a slider to distinguish how much is there for the visuals versus how much is there physically, because they're separate systems.

So essentially, the denser it is, the more it's going to buffet you around.

Ben ParrySenior Graphics Programmer

So yeah, we should get buffeting and lift.

So theoretically, I guess we could make it so thick that it just chews you up.
