Speaking of cargo grids, when we did our two-part Design Brief on the cargo career in November last year, I think, you mentioned that eventually we'll be able to attach almost anything to a cargo grid. How's progress on that going?
TL;DRProgress on attaching almost anything to cargo grids is behind hope, vehicles definitely won't attach this release and some other things may be missing, but the ambition remains that anything reasonable should attach.
It's coming, but it's not as far along as I was hoping. So I think this release, there are going to be some probably notable things that are missing. I don't want to say just yet exactly what, but certainly vehicles are not going to be able to be attached to cargo grids this release, that I will speak confidently on. And that's just more of considerations as far as if the entities themselves are really ready to be attached to things dynamically like that for physical reasons, or if they're ready to be just spawned in the world independently like that. So for example, ship items, a lot of them are not really designed to just be sat there in the world. If you look at them, some of the geometry on them isn't even complete. So it's that kind of stuff where we're not quite there yet. And there might be some other gameplay aspects with that, with more testing, that we find that whenever they're attached, they cause problems that need to be sorted out. And we might have to pull back on what ends up being literally attachable to the cargo grid. That doesn't mean that they may not be able to be called up on the freight elevator, because we can still place things loose on the freight elevator, but not literally attached to the grid in those situations if we were to need to. But as far as attaching them to the cargo grid, for example, on the ship and then flying around with them, like on the exterior of the Hull C, like in the ISC that we showed, we still have that ambition. It's still the governing principle, which is if it's in-game, I want it to attach to a cargo grid reasonably.
But not corpses.
I know. I made that joke, actually. That, I would say, is an unreasonable thing, even though I mentioned it as an example. You won't be able to attach a corpse to a cargo grid. Sorry.
