Flat tires: will that be a repair thing on ground vehicles?
TL;DRFlat tires could be explored if not annoying, but damaged wheel colliders make the physics unstable, so wheels are kept unlikely to break because earlier easy wheel loss immobilized vehicles.
As long as it's not really annoying. Imagine driving over Daymar and just getting a flat tire every ten minutes, all those rocks giving you flat tires. It could be really annoying. But assuming it's not, we could explore something.
Yeah, wheels have damage states. At the moment, they just sort of crumple, but...
Part of the issue is, because the physics is this super systemic moving tire physics collider, if you damage that collider, the physics can break down really quickly. And so we tend to keep them in a pretty good state a lot of the time to keep the simulation stable, because if we don't do that, it can get out of control. Maybe you just lose one tire and it just becomes a nightmare.
We had that a lot. The tires on, I think, the Cyclone came off if someone breathed on them, and that just completely immobilized the Cyclone. You'd be driving along on a completely flat surface with no rocks, and a wheel would just fall off because you hit a one-inch dip in the ground. So we sort of, not disabled it, but made it increasingly unlikely to happen, because it does completely ruin the experience, and you've got no way to get the vehicle back to repair it, so it's just left there.
