Do ship upgrades actually do anything? Coolers, for example, have cooling per second. Does this affect actual performance?
Todd Papy · Star Citizen Live Game Director

Yes, it does. If it doesn't, then that means that they copied and pasted numbers wrong, but the idea is that coolers and basically any items have pros and cons associated with them. So one of them might cool at a faster rate but might pull more power. Now one of the things that we don't have right now and isn't being shown off to the player is basically ways to compare one item to another. That's something that we've talked about, it's something that we know we need to do, and we have an idea of how we want to play that out and build that UI experience or UX experience for that; it's just something that we haven't been able to start on just yet. But there are differences.
