Do you plan on making maneuvering thruster VFX more visible?
Mike Snowdon · VFX Director

I can give a bit more about that question because I've seen a few questions on this. I know it's a talking point and has been discussed before, but some of the maneuvering thrusters are quite physically small, so the actual effects themselves probably don't convey the amount of power that that maneuvering thruster is putting out to keep the ship afloat when they're on places with gravity. One of the problems we've got is that we take our cues from the physical [item]. So if the item itself is quite small, it's difficult for us to... if we oversize the actual effect, that's going to look weird. That's probably not the intention of the people who created the look of the ship in the first place. So we have to find that balance, and there's a bit of back and forth. We do have the ability to discuss that with the people making the ship. So if we look at the ship and go, you know what, this would probably be better if we could make the maneuvering thrusters just that little bit bigger, that would give us a bit more scope to create a more powerful-looking effect, then that conversation does happen.
