A child can always be slightly outside the limitations of their parents, e.g. a child can grow taller or shorter than both parents. DNA faces are always in between the two parent faces, so a player face will always be more average than the parents' faces. How will we prevent all faces from ending up as the same average face after a number of generations?

TL;DRThere's no clear solution to blended faces trending toward average, but it hasn't been a big problem yet, randomized weights help, and more extreme options could address it if it becomes one.

True, and it introduces errors every time you do that. There's no clear solution on that right now, but I quite honestly haven't had it be a massive problem yet. And at the point that it does become one, then sure, we'll do something about it. But right now, I just don't see it as a huge issue, especially because, again, we're going to randomize the weights and everything within there. You could eventually get to that state, but I haven't seen it happen.

With regard to character customization, it's a matter of introducing more extreme options, more meaningful choices to make. And with regard to the legacy system, it would be about managing it so that it does introduce elements of error within that blend. You wouldn't ever end up beyond that blend, but because we blend between four different heads, you don't necessarily have just the weight between these two people.
