Can we expect to see deeper character customization options, such as age?

TL;DRCharacter aging is something they're shooting towards and thinking about, but design questions remain and blending smoothly between the start and end appearance is the hard part.

I don't know. I think that's definitely more on the design side. On the art side, it would require the ability to make something age, from one texture with an overlaying texture, which you can texture blend to get that, and then probably end up baking out a specific texture that saves as that character's texture, which is totally possible. And it's something I know that Chris has talked about for a long time, aging of characters and stuff like that. So it's something that we're shooting towards. It's more, how do we do it right now? It's definitely something we're thinking about, though.

The part that scares me is not where you start and where you end. It's the transition from one asset to another. That scares me. How do we blend the two assets? Because we can literally walk past a wall and all of a sudden we just swap assets. That's doable. But then we would want the whole transition as you're getting older. So what does that look like? And that's the part that's scary for me.

It's similar to the hair. The end and the beginning are easy. It's the tween that's hard.

Exactly. And actually, there was some tech, I don't want to go too deep into this, but on the DNA side, there was a discovery that, okay, we can do something similar to that, like growing hair. But technically possible versus visually appealing, that's where, yeah.

It's always a matter of quality control.
