Will we ever be able to steal backpacks?
TL;DRStealing worn backpacks hasn't been considered yet; it's an intriguing idea but opens a can of worms needing retaliation and consequences, so it's too early to call.
Steal while it's being worn?
Yes, like actually just take the backpack and run off with it.
I don't think this is something we've considered yet, but I find that it's an intriguing thing. I'm not sure if you should be able to steal all of it, but maybe steal a Hadanite out of the box that the guy's got on his back if he's not looking. There's a lot of other problems there. If you can steal that, automatically you can steal maybe his weapons, or some important, mission-critical item that he needs. There's a can of worms that needs to be very delicately opened and checked for other problems. Once we open that can of worms, it's dangerous, but it would be cool. We all love pickpocketing in various games, but it needs to be done to a certain extent where it doesn't heavily inconvenience the guy that had his stuff stolen. He needs to be able to retaliate, or there needs to be consequences if you're bad at it. So, yeah, it's a tough one, and I would say it's a bit early to call on this one.
