If we have 32 gigabytes of memory, will that improve things more on top of object container streaming?
TL;DRChris Roberts says extra memory would mainly let the game keep loaded things around longer, a benefit discussed for the longer term that he is unsure will be in the first implementation.
I'd have to go and... we discussed the... basically it's like a scratch disk. So as you load things in, if you have more memory, it may not discard them as quickly. And then, of course, you just reactivate it. So that would be usually the benefit. I don't know if that's going to be in the tier zero object container implementation, but that is what we've talked about on a longer term. So if you have more memory, it basically keeps things around longer. Because what happens with object container streaming, it can only keep so much in a container. Think of it as a box, and you put this stuff in and then, oh, it's too full, I have to get this other stuff out. Well, I'm not close to this other stuff, so I'll get rid of it. So basically, if you add more memory, you just have a bigger sort of memory allocation for that.
