I'm wondering if I've given Ricky a heart attack by calling object container streaming a must-have for 3.3. Is Ricky fully aware of it?

TL;DRChris Roberts says everyone is aware streaming is a must-have for the expanded 3.3 content, though some of that big drop may not all make it and hard resource trade-offs are likely.

It's a must have. Everyone is aware of it. We could deliver some of the 3.3 stuff, but we won't be able to deliver the expanded content because there just won't be enough memory. That's one of the reasons why we don't already have some more moons or Hurston and stuff, because we're already tight on the memory, so we can't just preload everything and just have it sit there.

And not to bury the lede, but it's not just Hurston, as you mentioned, it's four additional moons with Hurston.

And a whole bunch of truck stops. Some refineries. It's a lot. It's massive. It's a much bigger content drop than 3.0 was. That does mean that some of it may not all make it in there because it's so big, but it's a massive step. It is our biggest drop for the year.

Because 3.3 is so big, when we talk about priorities, when we talk about decisions that have to be made and some of the toughest decisions, I think there's probably a couple of those in the future.

Chris RobertsFounder, CEO and Project Director

Yeah, definitely. Well, because basically if we're ensuring the object container streaming, that may mean some engineering resources that would have been doing something else may not have time to do that. That's an example of... you always have to make hard resource decisions and you have to say, okay, what's my priority. So that sometimes will mean, okay, sorry, we won't be able to deliver this when we thought we would, because we need to make sure this happens.
