What's your role as a producer and what does your job entail?
TL;DRAnnie says a producer's job is to ease the leads' workload by organizing tasks and planning, finding solutions and answers, being the contact point for downstream teams and handling curveballs.
That's true. It's super abstract, and it can change on a dime as well. But I think the way I see my job is to make these guys' lives easier by organizing the workload. If my leads and my assistant art director are focused on, oh my God, we need to make tasks. What are we doing this sprint? How much time is it gonna take? Do we have a problem? Who's gonna fix it? Who do we need to talk to? If they're busy doing that, they can't focus on their work. So basically my job is to make sure that they stay focused and I run along to find solutions and to find answers to their questions. Also keeping in mind that I need to be the contact point between all of those downstream teams we were just talking about and make sure the planning works and make sure that we deal with curveballs when they arrive.
