After the 3.2 power systems, what else is there left for a complete implementation of item system 2.0?
John Crewe · Vehicle Pipeline Director, Foundry 42 UK

So it's a bit of a loose question because Item 2.0 isn't one thing. It's many things and it's a way of working. So essentially, any new features that we add just extend that. So probably a better question or answer would be what's left of Item 1.0 to be converted to Item 2.0, or what announced things for Item 2.0 are still in the pipeline. So in terms of what's left from 1.0: thrusters, there's a big thing left that's being worked on at the moment. And then we have things like countermeasures and missiles. 3.2 actually had some of the next big... all the weapons were changed over to Item 2.0. So that was a big, colossal amount of work to get that over. And yes, we started doing the power stuff. So that was the start there. The power work also included heat work, which is less obvious than the power side, but it is there. And that in turn starts working on the degradation and the wear, which is in-game and working already. And the next steps are the negative effects of degradation, so items misfiring and causing calamity when you stress them out too much. So that's what we're working on at the moment. So when that's done, you're going to have a much more complete feature set for ship items. And that would probably be a good state to say Item 2.0 for ship items is done, but like I said, everything uses it, so it's always ongoing.

Yeah, and you made a good point. Item 2.0 is a collection of features. There may be something down the line like, okay, we need to add this because of this gameplay, whatever, that gets rolled into that. But for what's left of 1.0, it's just thrusters? What else?

John Crewe · Vehicle Pipeline Director, Foundry 42 UK

Thrusters, missiles, countermeasures, and there's a few one-off used things kicking around. But the vast bulk of things have been converted over now with 3.2.
