Dave Haddock · Narrative DirectorThat is the question.
Will Weissbaum · Lead WriterThat's what every citizen wants to know. I'm paying taxes. So this is something Dave and I were talking a bit about before, just to touch on: a lot of times we want to introduce these cool stories into the lore, but we don't want them to resolve until people can experience them in the game. So sometimes a little bit of time goes on without anything major happening, and that's because we're holding off a little bit narratively until we can resolve this stuff in the game. So sure, we could write a story saying it's done or it failed, but we don't want to do that right now. That's going to be later on. Same thing with the Karen Civil War.
Dave Haddock · Narrative DirectorThen it gets to be a thing where it's like, all right, well, then it doesn't matter. If we resolve the Synthworld before you get to hopefully go to the Chronos system and see something about it, then it loses a lot of magic, because you hear about a cool story that happened that you didn't get to experience.
Adam Wieser · WriterThat's another way for players to engage actively with the story. If a lot of players are bringing supplies to the Synthworld to help it be completed, then there's always a chance that maybe it goes in the right direction. If people aren't taking it there because it's not worth it, then that might influence the story for why it fails.
