What are the differences between Gen 12 and Vulkan, and how are they related to getting more optimization in the game?

TL;DRGen 12 is the internal rendering architecture and Vulkan is the underlying graphics API replacing DirectX, with Vulkan scaling better across CPUs and threads, and further performance gains are expected in coming patches if all goes to plan.

Yeah, that's probably a question for me. Probably the best question to start with, since I'm working on it pretty much full time. For the people who still don't know what the difference is, we've already published a lot of videos about it and other people have talked about it. But Gen 12 is basically our internal engine structure, the rendering architecture for how rendering works. And Vulkan is the underlying graphics API, which one day replaces the DirectX graphics API. And the benefit of Vulkan is pretty much performance. It scales much better on multiple CPUs and threads. So, well, performance. We all love performance and we've all seen what it can do in 3.17. If everything goes to plan, performance will get even better in the coming patches. So I'm very excited for that, especially after we shipped one of our first milestones in 3.17 for Gen 12. And I'm working hard on it to get it done.
