How will weather on planets affect players on the ground?
TL;DRWeather effects on ground players are still conjecture: visual dirt and wear, reduced visibility, slowed movement from snow, or atmospheric hazards are possible, but flying around planets comes first.
Well, we talked a little bit about the dirt and wear stuff, so that's a visual tell. Maybe it'll have something to do with degradation, so there'll be a gameplay element to that. I'm sure visibility would play a big part in that. A lot of these are conjectures. Could something like snow slow down character movement? Sure. I mean, we have different zero-G kind of movement, so I don't see why snow couldn't slow it down.
I mean, we have different movement for the different gravities on the planets. So if anything, we could just start with it being some kind of gravity modifier on the movement.
And I mean, some of the obvious things that we'll do are probably things with the gas component anyway. So what the mix of the atmosphere is, if it's a storm that carries with it some kind of noxious gas, or whether there are real hazards within that storm, is yet to be seen. Let's get you guys flying around the planets first and then we'll see how much harder we need to make it for you.
