If the Banu don't write down history, can there be Banu outlaws? Can you have a Banu with a criminal record?

TL;DRBanu can be outlaws, but only in a personal, immediate sense, since a grievance is held by the wronged individual and fades once that person is gone.

Yes, because it's still based off of, if I'm a Banu and I steal from Banu Will, Will remembers that I stole from him.

And I would hire a security company to track down Dave, and that contract, as long as it's in existence, would mark Dave as a wanted person. But how far that knowledge spreads, maybe. It's kind of a personal, immediate kind of transgression.

Yeah, it feels like with the Banu there's less of that next step, as in that doesn't just become a general 'you are now an outlaw for everyone.' It's a very personal thing at that moment. And if Will disappears or dies, Dave may no longer be considered an outlaw because no one really cares. It's not useful to anybody else to go track him down because whatever happened there has no significance.

Will's contract with his mercs that he hired to kill me would be annulled because Will's dead. So it's sort of, as we've talked about in the past, the inherent comedy around the humans and Banu having to constantly renegotiate their trade agreement.
