The developers explain the F7A Hornet upgrade as a cosmetic hull kit without Military Hornet specs. They also cover FPS health and limb damage, turret deaths, torpedo countermeasures, NPC guilds, asteroid belts and hangars, hangar customization, and lively planetary landing zones.
I've answered this question in customer service a thousand times so far. So it changes the shape of the hull so it looks like the Military Hornet. It doesn't give you the specifications of the Military Hornet. You don't get an extra gun hardpoint. It doesn't give you a bigger engine, but it looks like the Military Hornet. It's like a kit for a car if you want to turn your Ford into a Ferrari. And so as such, it's going to have some impact on the physics of the ship in the game, where the thrusters are placed, maneuverability, but not that will show up in our specifications page right now.
Well, not I, but perhaps... Not I. I am gonna go down there on Sunday, represent Cloud Imperium a little, so look for me, I'll be wearing the pilgrim cross and maybe I'll have a little surprise for you if you're behind me.
Okay, so, Death of a Spaceman. If you're new to the club, take a look at it. It's a really good post that explains how our death mechanic works, and if you're in a turret that gets blown up, you get blown up. Key word is Death of a Spaceman.
We have several countermeasures. In fact, all the examples he gave were good ones. We do have chaff and flares and things. We also have, you can shoot down torpedoes. I'm sure you all remember doing that in Wing Commander 3.
Yes. We've been working a lot on the FPS stuff in the last few weeks. It's very realistic, very immersive, same as all of our game. You won't have a little bar that counts down. You will have some sort of display in your helmet if you have a helmet on. Otherwise, you'll have to use your mobiGlas to check your health status. But you can have limbs damaged and become useless.
Yes, absolutely. If you remember Privateer, there was a Merchants Guild and a Mercenaries Guild, and they're going to offer various benefits. Players will be able to run it, for sure.
Maybe some from column A and some from column B. I mean, it depends on how many we lay down. There will definitely be small clusters here and there, but I'm thinking we'll try to do some rings in some places.
Yeah, I mean, you're going to have asteroid space stations and asteroid hangars, so some of these things are going to be rather large. Big rocks. Lots of places to hide. And lots of places to mine.
And that's true. I mean, and it's looking pretty good. It's going to be a bit of a time before we get that out there to you guys. We'll have more on that in a little bit.
So for those of you who weren't around for episode 10, when you first met me, the hair is being grown out to donate to Locks of Love. So I will cut my hair when there is a foot of it to cut off. That's the official answer.
TL;DRThey want the hangar to feel like home with customization added later, mention a lounge poll and eventual persistence for moving items, upgrade it as they go, and defer the question of when.
Yeah, we want the hangar module to be your home, where we're going to be adding all sorts of cool stuff in the future that'll let you customize it, personalize it, make it your place. And we want to know what you think. So go to the forums, tell us what would help you make your hangar more at home.
Yeah, what do you want? Now we've already had a poll out there on lounges, and we're going to be doing exactly some of that stuff. But what's going to happen until we can do customizable pieces, or what we call persistence, where right now everything sits in a certain spot in your hangar, but we want it eventually where you can move stuff around and create your own version. And so until that happens, we'll be upgrading the hangar as we go, but that's going to be the big thing that you guys are going to be looking forward to. Now the next question is when? I'll have to answer that later.
There's a chance of anything happening in a derelict ship. I don't think we want to give away all the surprises, but something made those ships derelict in the first place.
I think that's a good idea. Many of our citizens have taken to putting pronunciation guides in their questions, which is an excellent thing to do. And it hasn't helped Eric even a little.
We want the planets to feel very alive. So there will be ships flying around. You'll see other characters walking around doing whatever they do during the day. They'll go to their jobs, go to restaurants, whatever. You won't be alone. It won't be just a wasteland with tumbleweeds. So there'll be traffic patterns and all this stuff.
Well, you know what? We really don't have that system in place or how we can answer it, but the video was so stinking cool that we wanted to get it out there for you guys to see.
So I'm one of the graphics programmers here at Cloud Imperium. So that means I'm working on a lot of the visual effects that you'll see in the final game. You haven't seen too much of my work quite yet, but there will be a bit more of it in Dogfighting.
Well, we're trying to do something different and cool, and sometimes doing different and cool takes time. We're getting it right, though. We've got an Inside CIG to look at at some point that once we finish that money shot, we'll get it out there and we'll show everybody what's going on, and I think they're going to like that.
