Chat is arguing about whether DLSS or FSR is better. Do you want to jump in on that?
Ali Brown · Director of Graphics Engineering

Well, I can't answer what is better or worse. I will leave that. That's technology owned by two different companies who are integrating it individually, so up to them. But what I will say is, DLSS has a distinct advantage in the way that it currently works, in that it is using more information that goes into it, so it has a better chance of giving a good result. FSR intentionally takes less information in, so there's a limitation to what it can actually achieve. So there is a fundamental limitation there. Now, either of them could change tomorrow. These are two independent companies making their own decisions on how this technology works. But at the moment, the upper limit is higher for DLSS because of the inputs it takes in. And that's a decision you just make. You have technology that can work different ways. We talked earlier about temporal solutions. If you use data from the previous frame, you have a much better chance of getting a good result, but you introduce a whole bunch of potential issues with ghosting. And you'll get one person that thinks that's a fair trade-off and other people that think that's not a good trade-off. So it's quite subjective what is better. But if you had a static camera, then having the extra information of DLSS gives you a chance of a better image. But I'll leave it to the public to decide what's actually better.
