The poster asks whether the BlueSky account using CIG's name is the official one, since it has no check and no posts despite 1.6k followers, and why CIG hasn't posted there. They would like an alternative to Twitter for game news.asked by PurelyVirtual

TL;DRCIG says it has had the account a while but has no current plans to officially support BlueSky, citing tooling gaps and a small social team, though it may later.

Hi there! We've had this account for quite sometime, and have definitely seen an increase recently of our community asking us about supporting BlueSky. At this time we don't have any plans to officially support it, however that's not to say that we never will. There are a lot of factors that go into supporting social platforms and one of the biggest hurdles is it not being integrated with a lot of the software that we use to schedule posts, monitor comments, and analytics which results in being a very tedious process to support manually. Also before someone else mentions it, we're totally aware that you can setup DNS for your account name to make it appear more official and are in the process of setting it up for our other accounts, however we're holding a bit on the Star Citizen account for now.

We have a fairly small social team (two of us now!) so we want to make sure that the recent trends in popularity will be sustainable over the long term before we dedicate our limited resources to it.

In the meantime, just as a reminder that we're still fully supporting Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in addition to Twitter.

Cheers! :beers:
