Will the upcoming ship-to-ship docking feature include Constellation snub docking or the Caterpillar's command section detaching?

David ColsonGameplay Programmer

The Constellation snub, it absolutely will. The Caterpillar will eventually, but it's more difficult because we have to effectively disconnect the thing that controls the ship, and then we lose the control of the ship. So it's not like two ships docking, it's more like a part of one ship. And getting that to work is a little bit more difficult, but we do want it to work and it will work.

John CreweVehicle Pipeline Director / Vehicle Technical Design

Yeah, because there's sort of three distinct docking mechanics. There's only two on the roadmap. There's ship to ship, which is like Constellation and Merlin, or two other ships using their docking ports together. There's ship to station, which is, as it says, and then there's that side of it.

David ColsonGameplay Programmer

Yeah, which is, I guess you could call it composite ship docking. You've got ships in pieces, I guess. And the Endeavor would be the same.
