Will you return manual quantum travel without forcing us to use beacons? How are we supposed to explore?
Rob Reininger · Lead Systems Designer, Product Owner of the US PU Feature Team

I can give you a scenario where you can go and explore that doesn't require that. Imagine a day where you can scan at a long range, find anomalies. How far you can go searching for these anomalies deep into space would depend on your current scanning gear, right? You can find things, those create markers that you can go to. And as you go out in the universe, we're procedurally generating derelicts, asteroids, content, maybe a pirate base, or maybe some nebula mining areas. I don't think it's necessarily required. I do like the concept of it, though, and have for a long time, because I want to point towards something and then kind of go, right? Just go check out what's over there. So I do think there's merit for it. That's a conversation. We are circling back to quantum travel in the near future. I was actually supposed to go out to the UK in May to discuss how we kind of change this and make it a better quality of life experience and more interesting for our longer distance travel experiences, but that's not going to happen now. So I'm at home instead, and we kind of prioritized some other features instead until we can have those conversations. But it's certainly a topic I'm going to bring up moving forward.
