Can cargo be destroyed?

In the current iteration, no. That could change.

So for 3.0 and for the time being, cargo is indestructible, except if you blow up a ship.

Yeah. Well, if you blow up a ship, you'll break up the cargo, and it's only a smaller percentage. It's not the full load. So if you blow up a ship, yeah, I mean, that's another thing. If you blow up a ship, you're damaging the goods, right? So you're only going to get like 10... I forget the exact number. Some percentage of it that will be generated as the loose cargo.

Well, that also addresses another common concern about what's to stop somebody from just blowing up the ship as opposed to trying to take it intact. You blow up the ship, you get this much cargo. You try to take it intact, you get this much.
