Why did you want the sun to rise over the spaceport from the player habs?
Ian LeylandArt Director, Star Citizen
I wanted it to go down. I just wanted that very specific vista. And previously, I'd say, when I was lighting it, I'd go, hey, man, sun, there, boom, boom, done. But then I was talking with Chris, lead lighting artist, and I'm like, Chris, I want that sun there. And he was like, I don't think the sun's going to go there. So then we had to really figure it out. So thinking about day-night cycles on a planetary scale is quite complex. We can't necessarily validate it for an outpost or a modular location. But when we're trying to build something like a major landing zone, I think it's very important to really understand what it feels like at those different times of day, because we're trying to say to the player, hey, spend some time here.
