What's more fun for you: creating crappy sounds for Drake (love the Clipper door, it's really nice by the way), or clean, nice sounds like for Origin or Crusader?asked by Killawurst

TL;DRThe team agrees creaky, rough-sounding Drake sounds are more fun to make, while high-end Origin sounds are harder to design because soft sounds convey weight poorly, and the audio designers haven't yet worked on an Origin ship.

I think we all agree. It's really fun to make the crappy sounds. I don't want to say crappy, but it's a lot more fun making creaky doors. Also, Origin, the high-end stuff, is actually really quite difficult to design for. It's a lot of soft sounds, and when you're using a lot of soft sounds, you can't really convey weight properly for components, so you might have a big door that you just can't really convey properly just because it needs to be high-tech.

We've not actually done an Origin.

Josh, how long have you been here?

Josh BellSound Designer, Vehicles

Eight months.

Jared HuckabyHost, Community

Eight months, okay, so you guys have never worked on an Origin ship. We haven't had an Origin ship since, what, 2021? We do have a new Origin ship this year, though. So you guys will get your first crack at Origin and getting to revitalize that.

I think you guys agree though, right? I know Josh does. He likes Drake.

Josh BellSound Designer, Vehicles

I do like Drake, and then also the Drake plus Shiv, which is even crappier.
