Are there any plans for big container ships or cargo ships that are only for carrying goods from one planet to a space station or something like this, or for modules like medicine modules on other ships, or faster, really heavily armored ones, so that they can bring the goods really safely to one place?asked by Knack und Back
TL;DRYes, big cargo ships are planned: the Starfarer is the largest player-ownable cargo ship so far, with probably bigger NPC-driven ships hauling goods in a simulated economy.
OK, so, well, the Starfarer is a pretty big ship. I think during the livestream we showed some of the concept work for it, but it's pretty large. It's almost as big as the Corvette, and it's all about cargo, so right now it's the biggest player-ownable cargo ship, and it will shift a lot of cargo. There will probably be some bigger ships that do the same kind of things that are NPC-driven in the game. But there's definitely going to be big cargo ships in it. We're going to have a whole simulated universe and economy. So you'll have ships going from planet to planet, taking goods, taking raw materials, going back and forth. Everything in the universe is meant to... like, you could have no one playing the game and you could be the only person in it, and you can fly around and you'll see the universe basically simulating. So people manufacturing goods, taking it to another planet, selling it, consuming it, et cetera, et cetera. So we're definitely going to have a lot of ships that haul cargo.
