Do you think this [content-driven, stability-focused year] is scary? And more importantly, why is now the time for the change?

TL;DRThe shift to stability and content is scary because it changes how things have always been done, but it's time because the current game would be great if it worked as intended.

Well, I think, first of all, it is very scary, right? Because it's a change of how we've been doing things forever, right? Which is a focus on transformational change to the game and constant evolution. Whereas now we're focusing on hardening and playability, and looking at what players are doing in the game and going, everybody's hitting this problem. And then it's not just the voice on the side going, hey, we should fix this, right? It's like, no, no. We're fixing this. Every director in the company is going to be on top duty for this. What's scary is that, how did Jens frame this for us? He said that stability and performance heighten hunger for new content and new features. That's the part that's scary. If we do achieve what we're set to achieve, we're going to need features as well, right?

When you get to that point, then everybody's going to try it and it's like, there's nothing to do now.

It's sushi restaurant energy, right? But it just has to be done. And the reason why it's time to do this is because, like Chris said in his letter, that's the part that resonated the most with me, we all acknowledge that if the game that we have now functioned the way it's supposed to, it'd be a great game. And that's what we want. We want a great game that we can build on and pave a road to get us out of alpha. And that's why it's time now. That's why we're committing to this.
